He and his wife, Kelly, are parents to son Isaac and a new baby. What surprised you about your first job search? We have spent over 10 years in education, yet we lack information pertaining to job search. Physicia ns shou ld fa m ilia rize themselves with the process of a job search. What's your advice for residents beginning their job search? My first suggestion is to start early. Second, identify your own personal and professional goals. Ask yourself questions like "W here do I see myself in one, five and 10 years after training, and how will this job get me there?" What are the most important factors in your job search? The potentia l for g row th th rough m e n t o r s h i p a n d l e a d e r s h i p opportunities. How did you find your job? I found my job through a few different resources: PracticeLink and a job fair hosted by my fellowship training program. How did PracticeLink help you in your job search? At first, I had a lot of skepticism about using a recruiting organization to assist with my career search. However, the more I attended PracticeLink's live events and spoke with their staff, I realized they genuinely want nothing more than to help us navigate the career search process. Do not let your own doubt stop you from receiving guidance and advice from those who can empower you to succeed. Any other advice? Identify role models in your career who have experience with not only searching for jobs, but also balancing the complexities of life and work. Win!
