New York Times features nonprofit clinic

The New York Times ran a fascinating feature this week on nonprofit health clinic Puentes de Salud, or "Bridges of Health," which provides health care and social services to Philadelphia’s undocumented, uninsured and impoverished Latino immigrants - many of whom are ineligible for treatment elsewhere.

Puentes, which is comprised of a group of doctors, nurses and volunteer medical students, has treated about 3,300 patients since it opened in 2006. In addition to providing health services, the clinic works to address underlying issues such as poor nutrition, illiteracy and violence.
